Limonene is the naturally occurring chemical constituent within Lemon Essential Oil that gives it its distinct lemony aroma. This oil has been used as a beauty aid for millennia to help cleanse and clarify the skin and hair. As a gentle solvent, it enhances cleaning solutions with purifying properties as well as its fresh scent.

This clear, slightly greenish oil has a thin consistency and is used as a top note in perfumes. It has been cold pressed from the peel of fruits that grow on a thorny little evergreen which, though native to India, is now cultivated worldwide. Its addition to waters and lotions have helped to tone, cleanse, and brighten the skin, scalp, and hair as well as improving the appearance of acne, cuts, and boils.

How to Use Essential Oils in Therapy

1. JOINING MIND & BODY BY SCENT TO BETTER PREPARE PATIENTS FOR THERAPY 

Add a few drops of essential oil into a toonie size amount of carrier oil. Rub together in your hands . Cup your hands in front of your patient’s nose.  Ask them to take 3 deep breaths through their nose. 

2. AMPING UP A FULL BODY MASSAGE 

Many essential oils have been used in holistic medicine for centuries due to their inherent properties.  Add 10-12 drops to 1/4 cup/60 ml of any Poya Gel, Lotion or Massage oil to a create custom massage formula based on you patient’s needs.

3. ENHANCE YOUR SPOT TREATMENTS 

If you do not have an unscented oil, lotion or gel to work with, you can add 3 - 5% of the oil directly to a carrier oil. This amounts to about the same proportions as #1.
